2010 organizers defend Beijing OlympicsPublished by
VANCOUVER, British Columbia - The organizers of the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver spoke out Wednesday against a boycott of the Beijing Olympics over the violence in Tibet. A boycott of the Aug. 8-24 games would only end up hurting athletes, said John Furlong, head of the Vancouver Olympic Organizing Committee. "I share the same concern any other decent human being would share for anybody who's in harms way, anybody who's suffering," Furlong said. "But what I am saying is that the Olympic Games is not the place to solve this. Sport is the one thing we all have around the world that's good."
