Alicia Shay of Flagstaff is not going to run at the U.S. Olympic Track Trials due to an injury.

Shay, who turns 26 today, was fourth in the 10,000 meters at the 2007 U.S. Championships and considered among the leading contenders for one of three American berths at the Beijing Olympics.

The women's 10,000 is on the first day at the Trials, which will be June 27-July 6 in Eugene, Ore.

Shay's coach, Jack Daniels of the Center for High Altitude Training, said, "She was chasing her puppy down the driveway to keep it out of the road and hurt a muscle in her stomach a month ago. It just wasn't healing well. She didn't want to do a half-hearted effort (at the Trials).
