Race won't air live, allowing for schedule changeFor the first time since it hit the airwaves, the Bolder Boulder won't be televised on Denver's CBS 4. The organizers of the Memorial Day race announced Wednesday that Fox Sports Rocky Mountain is the new television partner of the race. KCNC has televised the Bolder Boulder since 1982, the first year of television coverage for the 30-year-old race, but the organizers decided to go with a different broadcaster for May's event. "Channel 4 was always great for us, but sometimes things change," race director Cliff Bosley said. "Luckily we happened to be in the right place at the right time when things changed." Bosley didn't cite a specific reason for the switch, but did say the split was a mutual decision. The deal with FSN, which also has contracts with the Colorado Rockies and the University of Colorado, is a multi-year contract. "The Bolder Boulder has established itself as the premier road race in the country, with more than 50,000 people registered for the citizens races in 2007," FSN senior vice president Tim Griggs said.
